What fills Joan with joy
Joan Day has been planning events since 1996. She established Joan Day Weddings in 2007 while living in Northern Virginia, and has assisted clients in The Carolina's and the Washington, D.C. Metro area ever since. Joan lives in South Carolina with her family. Her team primarily services the Midlands, Upstate, and Low Country areas of South Carolina, but will plan events out-of-state upon request. My two children, now young adults, were just two years old and just shy of five years old when I established Joan Day Weddings. It's hard to believe that so much time has passed. The beginning of my weddings and events business was centered on my promise to be a stay-at-home mother, and focus on child-rearing during the most formidable years. I'm so thankful that I did. Through weddings, I have met such special and unique families. Countless weddings over the years with one very common theme ... Love and Family.
I enjoy all things beauty... color, fabric, florals, texture and personality that comes from these items all being pulled together into a beautiful ensemble that speaks to who my clients are at heart. Weddings are a huge deal! And the events throughout this special day should reflect who you and your partner are, inside and out.

I truly enjoy doing for others. My events planning endeavors have always provided an excellent outlet for my passions. I find inspiration in serving others, my children, gorgeous fabrics, paint colors, interesting people, fashion, music, nature, and of course, animals. I have a Dachshund, Bentley, a Chihuahua, Cookie, and a little Calico named Stella Rosa. Yes, guilty! We named her after our favorite house wine. I enjoy working on things from beginning to end, taking time to go through the creative process, problem-solving, and coming up with an awesome end product. I am a mother, daughter, sister, friend and all-round people-person. I enjoy bringing joy to others. That's my God-given gift. Through my gift of hospitality, I help others host!

My inspiration for much of my design work centers around a common theme and philosophy. This design is a traditional one that is still wildly popular to this day. It's the Desert Rose pattern by Franciscan. Desert Rose was an every day use item at my grandmother's home. My grandmother, Emily Sue McConnell, served many holiday and special occasion meals on this china set. With its pops of happy colors, desert rose, sunshine, avocado and cream, the ground-breaking pattern took hold as the new casual tableware in 1941. A unique, all-American pattern that did not follow the traditional European bone china. It became one of the largest selling casual tableware patterns in history. I fortunately have a hostess splendor of it, as my grandmother was the quintessential hostess. Emily Sue was the perfect example of grace, welcome, and acceptance.
My grandmother was a delight. She never said a cross word about anyone. The chair featured here was in my grandparent's home. I have found memories centering around this chair. When I inherited it, I designed a pattern of varying fabrics that carried the Desert Rose theme. I call this chair, my "happy chair." My grandmother had a significant impact on everyone she met. I am thankful for the amazing woman that she was and the positive influence she continues to have, even beyond our family. Through my business, I share little bits of Emily Sue with those I serve.

JD doesn't get things done without a little help. Our team is made better with the addition of Emily Grace; a college student at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and graduate of Mooresville Senior High School. JD is thrilled to have her talents and fresh perspective. Emily has a keen eye for details, and last minute fixes to resolve issues that arise during an event. We are so excited to have her on board as an associate planner. She's got a great eye for details, thinks quick on her feet, which is awesome for events management.

Hi, my name is Emily Kelley. I'm a student at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I hope to have a career in the liberal arts, involving, drama, acting, theater, photography and directing. I love artistic expression and am so excited to have the opportunity to learn about the behind the scenes dramatics in show production. I have been in the performing arts for years as well as gymnastics. I am the founding member of Charlotte's first gymnastics club. I wanted to create a space for university students that loved this art a space to grow, learn and compete at college level. I love working in the wedding and events industry with my mother, Joan. I'm so excited to see where my future will take me, and am hoping to end up doing something impactful that shares positive energy and joy with others.
